28 tzaddi (fish-hook)

The path of Tzaddi connects the collective inspiraton of Netzach with the great fundamental force for good and evil, Yesod. Tzaddi provides Yesod, the magical link between mind and matter, with an inflow of Netzach's collective channels and archetypes. It breaks up the automatisms of Yesod to enable a greater freedom of utopian, futuristic creation, based on higher principles: It enables the image screen of Yesod to be penetrated by the purifying archetypes of Netzach. Tzaddi means 'fish hook', which refers to the angling of the soul to raise the personality: "through it is consummated and perfected the Nature of every existent being under the orb of the sun". Tzaddi is the process of identifying the ego with higher collective forces, for instance through meditation. In this process, the soul is able to overshadow the ego and contribute to the perfection of the personality. The tarot trump "The Star(s)" below is loaded with symbols of interdependence between heaven and earth. The woman in the card is a physical transmitter of spiritual principles: "As above, so below". "Every man and woman is a star", a potentially perfect example, a possible role model. We identify with the heavens, and they actively identify with us, through the fish hook. This implies of course a great risk of ego-inflation. For the personality, nothing is easier to worship than itself. Mental hospitals are filled with former adepts who believe that thay are some ancient godform. Stardom is not always a modest path. The message of Tzaddi is that the process is always controlled by the soul, not by the personality dangling from the fish hook. Potential stardom is a gift of the Gods, an inherited process deeply embedded in our natural spiritual evolution. Therefore Tzaddi is called "the Natural intelligence". We are born with a living hope and faith in God.
